Sybille developed her passion for teaching after a decade of work in arts and arts education as an actress, teacher, and curriculum coordinator. She is the co-founder of The Shakespeare Forum, a not-for-profit located in East Harlem, committed to bringing arts and arts education to underserved communities.
Sybille joined the New York City Teaching Fellows in 2009, focused on students with disabilities in NYC’s District 75. From there, she taught special education at several schools in the NYC DOE, including at Metropolitan Expeditionary Learning School (MELS) and, in 2011, she was nominated for the New York City Teaching Fellows Award for Classroom Excellence.
At MELS, Sybille developed a passion for project-based learning and, when seeking a new challenge, found Riverdale to be the perfect home to work in a progressive education setting. Sybille has worked as the Director of the Learning Research Team since 2017 at Riverdale and currently serves as a researcher and learning/development coordinator at the school, in addition to her role as Lead Researcher at PLUSSED.
